Hurricane

Send out the morning birds to sing of the damage
Now that the calm's returned, I know I can't manage
You're standing in my doorway, though he's asleep in my bed
The steady murmur, always in my head..

You're the finest thing that I've done, the hurricane I'll never outrun
I could wait around for the dust to still, but I don't believe that it ever will.

And since the roof fell in, I'll lean on what matters
Caught in the slightest wind, everything else unravels
You're standing in my doorway seven cities ago
The days are racing, but you come back too slow..

You're the finest thing that I've done, the hurricane I'll never outrun
I could wait around for the dust to still, but I don't believe that it ever will.

I need a heart-to-heart session with my piano soon.

Friends, Lovers or Nothing

Now that we are over
As the loving kind
We'll be dreaming ways
To keep the good alive

Only when we want is not
A compromise
I'll be pouring tears
Into your drying eyes

Friends, lovers, or nothing
There can only be one
Friends, lovers, or nothing
We'll never be the inbetween
So give it up

You whisper "Come on over"
Cause you're two drinks in
But in the morning I will say
Good-bye again

Think we'll never fall into
The jealous game
The streets will flood
With blood of those who felt the same

Friends, lovers, or nothing
You see
There can only be one
Friends, lovers, or nothing
We'll never an inbetween
So give it up

Friends, lovers, or nothing
We can really only ever be one
Friends, lovers, or nothing
Don't you know
We'll never be the inbetween
So give it up

No we'll never the inbetween
So give it up

Anything other than 'yes' is 'no'
Anything other than 'stay' is 'go'
Anything less than 'I love you' is lying...

I'm upset. The truth sucks.

The Death

Just when you thought you had the hang of somebody,

they will, on no uncertain terms,

turn around and reveal a side of themselves you've never seen before.

Then what do you do?

It's unnerving. But you move on. You talk about it and thrash it out (or wait till the exams are over to finish the conversation.) Because if the person really matters then its worth hanging on to it and working around it.

Hahahaha Miss Heng, why are people always so weird?!

Ton of Bricks

I am just realising

the limits of

pushing my body

so far.

First time this year the pain has gotten so bad.

Love Is Waiting

In the autumn on the ground, between the traffic and the ordinary sounds
I am thinking signs and seasons while a north wind blows through
I watch as lovers pass me by
Walking stories - whos and hows and whys
Musing lazily on love
Pondering you
I'll give it time, give it space and be still for a spell
When it's time to walk that way we wanna walk it well

I'll be waiting for you baby
I'll be holding back the darkest night
Love is waiting 'til we're ready, 'til it's right
Love is waiting

It's my caution not the cold
There's no other hand that I would rather hold
The climate changes, I'm singing for strangers about you
Don't keep time, slow the pace
Honey hold on if you can
The bets are getting surer now that you're my man

I'll be waiting for you baby
I'll be holding back the darkest night
Love is waiting 'til we're ready, 'til it's right
Love is waiting

I could write a million songs about the way you say my name
I could live a lifetime with you and then do it all again
And like I can't force the sun to rise or hasten summer's start,
Neither should I rush my way into your heart

Cloud Nine

In an environment fuelled by individualism and self-interest, the last thing you'd expect to find is self-sacrificial friendship.

So you start off with this hard exterior; play your cards close and guard yourself well. The people around you start off friendly, then throw you under the bus when you're not useful anymore. Or they'll dance around you with masks and hidden daggers, only showing their ugly and hypocritical heads once in a while. But you have to learn how to deflect and sidestep these obstacles with grace.

Then all of a sudden, someone shows up. No masks, no daggers, no agendas, no double meanings. Just... friendship on a silver platter. You dont have to watch what you say, or keep certain parts of your assignment to yourself for fear that your points will be snatched away.

And then he gives you the validation you've been waiting for; the acknowledgment from a peer of equal standing that youre good at what you do. And alllll the defences go melting away. Just like that.

It feels really good to be content once in a while. Just stop and appreciate life for what it has to offer, instead of nitpicking at things that are outside of your control.

I feel like running around in the rain or throwing myself down on patch of soft grass. With a smile on my face and a song in my head :)

J'veux Ton Amour

I am trying hard not to be impossibly lazy and come up with a proper updated blog post. Something that required some reflection before it clutters the wasteland known as the internet.

It's like ive hit this roadblock with my writing; these days im either only writing in legal english or posting lyrics that just take out the need for explanation. I suppose ive also reached the stage where i feel almost self-conscious to dwell on myself for too long, even in a private medium like my blog. Like who cares what your "shitty" life is like when the rest of the world has bigger problems.

Its like this process of growing up got accelerated in the 13 weeks since school properly started. You start to see things a little differently, appreciate different things in life and think about the world differently as well. The neuroticism of the people around you also starts to rub in and colour your life differently. In a microcosm where everyone is a little weird, weird almost becomes normal.

And i suppose thats why there sometimes feels like a divide when i step in and out of school. It's easy to label it elitism and call me names, but believe me, it really isn't. When you spend such a huge amount of time in a controlled environment, the rest of the outside world just seems so far away. So you start to retreat from the outside and stay within this little bubble where you dont need to explain your pain and pressures coz everyone is going through the same thing. It's just that when there is such an intensity in the things you experience, it becomes hard to spell it out for someone else who hasnt felt the same things. It's not that my pressures are worse than yours; it's just not the same.

Exactly how NS guys would say to girls that they wouldn't understand. They're not being elitist or condescending; they are just unable to put into words accurately what they went through. So forgive me if i'm too tired to explain the troubles (as well as overwhelming joy) of school and you are really not expected to tell me that you understand. :)

So if you think you've had enough of me rambling on about school, STOP NOW. The rest of the post is going to be completely school-related.

I had my first experience of being a witness at a criminal trial. Admittedly not the most accurate experience, but a learning point nonetheless. My senior's trial advocacy examination just showcased to me the crazy world of litigation; THE INSANE PRESSURE OF SAYING THE RIGHT THINGS and the IMPOSSIBLE BURDEN OF PROTECTING YOUR CLIENT. Exciting times ahead :D the difficulties of litigation only serves to get me more excited about the future.

And in between rushing out assignments and prepping for exams, ive managed to go get myself embroiled in romantic relations. Yes there is a boy and yes youve probably seen how he looks like by now. No we are not together, in terms of both proximity and status. But i dont even care about that anymore. The reality is, we've known each other for effectively 13 weeks and we're already behaving like old friends. So it really doesn't matter that i dont get to call him my boyfriend or any other inane social decorum thats part of the realm of romantic relationships. Given the time we spend together and the hilarious moments we share, this is just about good enough for me. For now. ;p I think this is the most open ive been lol its kind of a scary feeling.

Right. So i managed to cough up a coherent, self-written post. Good job, me. Hopefully my laziness doesnt throw me right back to posting lyrics again.
